How many years of experience do you have in the industry?
Our founder, Cary, started roofing over 40 years ago. We’ve proudly been serving Bend and the surrounding communities for over 30 years! That’s a lot of roofs!
Does your company actually inspect the roof or only work via satellite?
On rare occasions, some roofs can be too steep to walk....however, our inspectors will visit EVERY job and walk every roof possible to determine if a replacement is even necessary. Many companies will never walk the roof and only send a bid based on the homeowners request...even though they may not need a new roof! We submit satellite measurements for all our jobs to double check our inspectors measurements, and unlike many other roofing companies we do that at no additional cost to you.
Do you provide warranties?
Yes! We provide all of our customers with a ten-year workmanship warranty, and beyond that, we also offer all Owens Corning warranties being a Platinum Contractor.
Where are you located/will you work on my roof?
Conveniently located in Tumalo, Greenlee is minutes away from every Central Oregon city. We proudly serve Bend and all of the surrounding areas including Redmond, Sunriver, Madras, Prineville, Sisters, and La Pine.
Questions about The Process
How much life is left on my roof?
This is probably one of the first questions that you ask. To answer this, we will send out one of our experienced and honest inspectors to conduct a free assessment of your roof.
We take the inspection process very seriously here at Greenlee. Many roofing companies will come with the intention to sell you a roof- whether you need one or not. At Greenlee, you’ll get the creme de la creme of inspectors with Cary and Chris. At over 40 years of experience and over 25 years of experience respectively, you can trust that Cary and Chris can speak knowledgeably about the state of your roof. And, at Greenlee, if you don’t need a new roof- we tell you just that!
An average shingle roof in Central Oregon usually needs to be replaced every 17-18 years. Some roofs with a lower quality shingle that has been installed improperly will not last as long. Likewise, a higher quality shingle installed excellently could last 20+ years but we really won’t know, or be able to answer this question, until our inspectors are on the roofs and checking things out in person! What will the roof install process look like?
Great question! The roofing process consists of 5 steps- tear off, dry in, installation, clean up, and a final inspection.
Step 1: Tear off
Tear off is the removal of all of your old roofing materials. Typically early in the morning, our crew will arrive to clear all the old roofing materials from your roof so that we have a blank slate to re-roof on. Our crew will need a clear driveway for this step so that they can dispose of the old material. This can take anywhere from 1-2 days to complete.
Step 2: Dry In
Once your roof is cleared off our team will dry in the bare roof with “underlayment.” This underlayment serves as a protective barrier from the elements and waterproofs your roof. Because underlayment is so very important, this step (along with tearing off your roof) is weather dependent as we need to keep your roof protected while it is most vulnerable.
Step 3: Installation
Following the dry in process an experienced roofer, or small team of roofers, will arrive to complete the installation process. This is a noisy process!
Most roofing companies use large crews to get this step done in the fastest way possible, which also means that a variety of work quality is scattered across your roof. However, at Greenlee we know that quality workmanship matters. This is why we have come to believe that smaller, and sometimes solo, experienced and master roofers offer a higher quality of overall product due to expert consistency across the entire roof.
We will never promise to be the fastest roofers, but we do promise to offer the highest quality of workmanship on every one of our jobs!
Step 4: Clean up
Roofing is a messy process! While our crews will conduct clean up around the property daily small items such as staples, possibly nails, and scraps of roofing materials will have fallen to the ground. We want to leave your yard as we found it when we started so at this step our clean up crew will ensure that everything is taken care of properly.
Step 5: Inspection
Within five business days of a completed install, our management will provide a comprehensive final inspection of the entire roofing process- dry in, installation, and clean up. When will the roofing work start?
We roof year-round and typically schedule work out several weeks in advance. If you are concerned about a possible conflict in dates we will do our very best to accommodate any scheduling conflicts.
How long will it take to finish the project?
Depending on the size of the house and the weather conditions it can take on average anywhere from 3-5 days to go from your current roof to a brand new roof! Tear off and Dry In take 1-2 days and Installation typically takes 2-3 days.
What colors can I choose from?
You might be amazed at the variety of colors available for roofs! If your heart is set on having a purple shingle and nothing else will do, we are happy to install that for you and will make it happen. Otherwise, we always recommend the amazing Owens Corning colors.
