Learn More About Our Process

PRE-PRODUCTION

TEAR-OFF • DRY-IN • INSTALL • CLEAN-UP • INSPECTION

TEAR-OFF

On the first day of production, our tear-off crew will arrive (most likely in the early morning) to begin removing all the old roofing material. Please make sure that they have easy access to the roof - this is typically via a clear driveway.

DRY-IN

Once the old roofing material has been removed, we will dry in the bare roof with "underlayment." These layers of underlayment are what keep your home truly watertight. Tear-Off to Dry-In, these steps can take 1-2 days depending on the weather… we need to make sure you stay waterproof during this process.

INSTALLATION

Following behind the initial crew is our experienced roofer(s) to install the new material. There will be lots of pounding and noise for the duration of this process - please make sure that our team has access to an available electrical outlet for their compressor. This process typically takes 2-3 days depending on the difficulty of each roof.

CLEAN-UP

Roofing a home is a messy process…We want to apologize in advance for the inconvenience! Our team will provide a daily clean-up at the end of each production day. However, many small staples, possibly some nails, and small scraps of roofing material will have fallen to the ground. Our specialized clean-up crew will do a thorough walkthrough of the grounds to ensure everything is left how we found it.

FINAL INSPECTION

Within five business days of a completed install, our management will provide a comprehensive final inspection of the entire roofing process - Dry-In, Installation, and Clean-Up. If any work is found to be below Greenlee standards, it'll be remedied during this inspection.

COMMON QUESTIONS

HOW LONG WILL THE INSTALLATION PROCESS TAKE?

Every roof is unique, and we want to ensure that your home is fully watertight while our crews install your new roof. Depending on the weather and complexity of your roof, our teams can typically complete a "reroof" in 3-5 days.

THE GREENLEE DIFFERENCE - LARGE CREWS VS INTIMATE INSTALLS

For over thirty years, Greenlee has installed every material available as well as tried many different install methods and techniques. While a large and fast roofing crew may be the most convenient for a homeowner, we believe this may be detrimental to the overall quality of installation. It may not seem like it from the ground or an untrained eye, but laying shingles or fabricating metal cuts is an art form. Large crews would offer a marriage between a Picasso, a van Gogh, and a Pollock...at your ridge line. While all wonderful, there will be noticeable styles and workmanship differences.

Greenlee has come to believe that smaller, and sometimes solo experienced and master roofers offer a higher quality of overall product when the roofer knows a home intimately. We will not promise to be the fastest roofers, but we promise to offer the highest quality of workmanship on every one of our jobs.
